Although Lille may seem a long way from Lyon, nestling in the very north of France, the direct TGV express train takes you from Lyon to Lille in 3 hours, making it perfectly possible to enjoy a little getaway up there! Start by discovering the Capital of Flanders, with its superb architecture typical of the region and stroll along the narrow cobbled streets of the Vieux Lille district. 

Then cross the border into Belgium for a day trip to Bruges: You will enjoy a tour of the “the Venice of the North” and explore the numerous canals that wind through the town on a canal cruise. Don’t forget to look up: the towering Gothic architecture will impress you just as much as the waterways!
